The Job Corps program is designed to assist young people in becoming capable, conscientious employees with the skills necessary to succeed in business and life. At the core of this curriculum is a trade that each student selects from the 13 skill programs offered. The average completion time in each skill ranges from nine to twelve months depending on the individual. The instruction takes place in the classroom, in shops and at various Work-Based Learning sites, where students get valuable on-the-job training.
While training for a career, Job Corps students are also encouraged to earn a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED). After completing a trade and earning a GED, students are eligible for Placement services, including advanced training, military placement, and permanent employment. |
