Health Occupations

What is it?

The Health Occupations skill is structured to prepare you for profitable work as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Because of the growing demand for skilled employees in the medical care field, there are many positions available for students entering the job market from this skill.

What will I learn?

You will learn basic employability skills to enable you to obtain and retain employment. As part of the program instruction, you will be trained to explain the various levels of health care and understand basic human needs. You will learn the basic principles of infection control, OSHA standards and isolation procedures, how to apply dressings, monitor vital signs of patient, care for patients in either a medical or home setting, etc. When you complete the skill of Health Occupations, you will take the State Examination and upon passing this test you will be licensed as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

What kind of job will I be able to get?

Job titles include Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and home health assistant.

How much will I earn?

Wages for Health Occupations assistants range from $6 to $15 per hour.
