Outreach and Admissions (All photos provided by courtesy of Job Corps center operators under contract to the US Department of Labor)

Acceptance to the North Texas Job Corps Center begins in Outreach & Admissions with an Admissions Counselor. Located throughout Texas and Louisiana (see below), Admissions Counselors (ACs) are staff who work to inform the public about the benefits and services offered at the North Texas Job Corps Center (NTJCC). ACs assist interested young adults with completing application for admissions into the program. Through weekly held Career Readiness Classes, ACs, Career Advisors, and other center staff ensure that interested applicants receive accurate information about the program.

Applicants who are interested in attending North Texas Job Corps Center should contact an Admissions Counselor in their area to schedule an appointment to attend the Career Readiness Class. The Career Readiness Class consists of a pre-application process, an orientation, and 2 follow up sessions. During the Career Readiness Class, applicants are educated about the North Texas Job Corps Center and Job Corps in general. The information shared with applicants during the classes includes, but is not limited to:

  • Trades offered, including Labor Market Information
  • Space availability
  • Academic requirements
  • Recreational activities
  • Behavior expectations
  • Dorm rules
  • Center tour (by appointment only outside of the Dallas-Fort Worth area)
  • Career Preparation Period
  • Career Transition Services

During the Career Readiness Class applicants are expected to arrive on time, dress appropriately, complete assignments, and provide all required documents. Upon completion of the Class, applicants, along with Admissions Counselors, decide whether or not Job Corps is the best program for them to pursue for training. After applicants are admitted to the North Texas Job Corps Center, Admissions Counselors maintain contact with them by mail and visits to the campus.

To apply to the North Texas Job Corps Center, please call for an appointment at (888) 44-APPLY or (888) 442-7759.
