Painting

What is it?

The Painting skill is structured to prepare you for profitable work as a painter. Due to the upsurge in the construction market, there are many positions available in the construction and home building painting area for students entering the job market from this skill.

What will I learn?

In this program, you are taught basic employability skills as well as basic trade skills, including estimating materials and labor for a job, reading blueprints to determine size, location, etc., of painting areas, and safety procedures. You will learn to use the proper tools for the job, how to prepare the surface for painting, sandblasting, application of paint and other wall coverings, use of scaffolding, and many other skills necessary to be successful in this trade.

What kind of job will I be able to get?

Job titles include general helper (at hospitals and other similar facilities), carpentry helper, maintenance helper, assistant painter, construction helper, and professional window washer helper.

How much will I earn?

Entry level wages range from $6.50 to $8 per hour.
