Former Dallas Cowboy and NFL All-Pro Defensive Back Deion Sanders urged students during the July 17 assembly at NTJCC to separate themselves from negative distractions and make a commitment to being a productive adult. He also stressed the need for perseverance as students find the direction they want to take in their lives.
Sanders told a group of students and staff at NTJCC that "there is something wrong with a plant that doesn't grow. This also is true of a person who doesn't grow." Sanders urged students to grow to their full potential and progress as responsible citizens.
NTJCC Security Manager Tommy Johnson, whose son is a friend of Sanders, arranged Sanders' visit to the center.
