Security

What is it?

The Security Academy provides basic training that leads to state certification as a level 1 or 2 security officer. The Security Academy also provides students with an introduction to the criminal justice field and to numerous other law enforcement positions, including crime scene investigator, parole officer, probation officer, dispatcher, police officer, corrections officer and more.

What will I learn?

In addition to learning employability skills needed to obtain and retain a job in the security field, you will study laws pertaining to arrest, search and seizure, as well as learn about diversity, report writing, conflict resolution, fingerprinting, CPR/First Aid, etc.

What kind of job will I be able to get?

Students completing the Security training program most often find entry level Security Officer or Corrections positions. With advanced training and additional education, students can advance and secure high paying jobs within the security profession.

How much will I earn?

Pay for entry level jobs in Security generally ranges from $10 to $14 an hour, with much higher salaries available in both the law enforcement and security fields to workers with advanced training and education. Salaries are dependent on job locations as well as employees' qualifications, training and experience.
