Academic Training Overview

In addition to career training, North Texas Job Corps Center also provides academic training, including basic reading and math. Courses in independent living, employability skills, and career success skills are offered in order to help students transition into the workplace. We also have several academic programs to help our students achieve their full potential.

Educational Programs

JOB CORPS IS A VERY STRUCTURED ENVIRONMENT THAT WILL PREPARE YOU FOR THE WORKPLACE.

GED/High School Diploma

One of our top goals at North Texas Job Corps is to ensure that every qualified student obtains his or her GED/high school diploma prior to leaving the center. Students who don't already have a high school diploma upon their arrival at North Texas can enroll in our GED/high school program. Students also may enroll in our high school diploma program administered through a partnerships. A high school diploma is awarded once all the required credits have been completed.

English Language Learning Program

Students needing to learn English can enter our English Language Learning (ELL) program. Students in the ELL program are tested regularly to determine their language proficiency levels.

Tutoring

Tutoring programs are available where students are tutored in math, reading, and social studies by instructors or by fellow students (Peer Student Tutors). Students interested in getting into a tutoring program may contact their instructors or the Academic Manager.

Driver Education

Driver's Education is available to all students needing their driver's license.

Career Success Standard

Ten Behavioral expectation in the areas of employment, social development, and independent living skills.

The way we prepare you for the workforce has changed during Job Corps’ 40 years. The growth of new technology, its impact on your education and the workplace, and the surge in various high-growth industries continuously creates new opportunities to learn and grow. Job Corps is responding to this opportunity with the Career Success Standards, a set of ten behavioral expectations in the areas of employability, social development, and independent living skills.
